The four modules that Achievement Square Development & Training Centers, Inc. will use to promote positive youth development include PEDAL Prep, Educational Safari, BOSS Entrepreneurship Development and Peer Positive. While cycling through the Saturday Workshop Series, adults from local colleges/universities and businesses will be recruited to provide mentorship to the economically disadvantaged youths enrolled in the corporation’s Young Achievers Program.
Interested youths will be required to submit applications (including information detailing family socioeconomic status and parents’ post-secondary experience), 700-word essays, and academic transcripts. Once these items have been received, they will be invited to sit down with Achievement Square’s Executive Director and L.I.F.E. coaches for face-to-face interviews. The purpose of these interviews is to gain a better understanding of each prospective participant’s postsecondary goals and gauge their commitment to completing all 12 weeks of the Saturday Workshop Series. Achievement Square will serve 16 females and 16 males in grades 7-10 each academic year.
