2022 LEAD RIGHT SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

The recipients of the 2022 LEAD RIGHT Scholarship Award are Miranda Archibald and Natania Elias.  Miranda will attend Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, Virginia) and Natania Harvard University (Cambridge, Massachusetts) in the Fall of 2022.  Brief biographies for each scholarship award recipients are below.

Miranda and Natania will each receive one-time scholarship awards of $650 for use during their first year of postsecondary education.

MIRANDA ARCHIBALD

(Stonebridge High School, Ashburn, Virginia)

Miranda Archibald is currently a senior at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia. She graduated  in June 2022 with her Advanced Studies Diploma. Miranda held many leadership positions in high school, including Co-Founder and Co-President of the Minority Student Council, Peer Leader with Sources of Strength, a suicide prevention program, and member of
the Student Council Association. Miranda is the recipient of a number of awards including the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Academic Achievement Award, the 2020 William Camp; Mary Leadership Award, and the 2021 the Landon “Mack” Piercy Good Character Award.

Miranda has a strong interest in leadership development. She participated in the 2021 George Mason Conflict Resolution Youth Summit, the 2021 Virginia High School League Leadership Conference, the 2020 William and Mary Courageous Leadership Institute, the 2019 North Florida Teen Leadership Institute Camp, and the 2019 Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy.

Miranda is deeply committed to community service. In her senior year, she was accepted into the Claude Moore Community Builders program. As a community “Builder,” Miranda completed several service projects within the Loudoun County community. Miranda also volunteered for service projects through her time as a mentee with the Pearls Empowerment program.

Miranda loves music and art. She plays the violin and the viola. She enjoys making both traditional and digital art.

After spending the summer teaching children art at a local art studio, Miranda will study Psychology at Virginia Tech.


NATANIA ELIAS

(Lake Braddock Secondary School, Burke, Virginia)

Natania Elias is a recent honor graduate from Lake Braddock Secondary School. A dedicated advocate for those in need, she spends many hours volunteering as a cross-disciplinary tutor, fundraising for the Wegene Ethiopian Foundation’s Youth Club, and spearheading charitable initiatives for those from marginalized backgrounds.

As a high school student, Natania honed her advocacy and leadership skills by directing Student Government and serving on her Principal’s Cabinet. Her efforts have influenced her desire to shape public policy within the fields of Economics, Education, and Human Rights.

Natania will study Economics and Government at Harvard University (Cambridge, Massachusetts).
